My first attempt at autotuning with 2.1 was a success and it didn't take very long for it to finish, maybe an hour and a half.
XTU 2.1 has a MUCH nicer interface, and can also be used to monitor activity. I uninstalled it again and went to Intel's website to download the newest version. Then I reinstalled it with the resource CD and when I opened it it acted like it was still doing the exact same autotuning that it was doing before I uninstalled it. I ended up having to uninstall the program completely to get it to at least stop running. Then it wouldn't stop trying to autotune it, I would hit the stop button and it would say "stopping." but would never stop. I left it on for 16 hours while it was supposedly autotuning, but it never did anything. I tried to Autotune it to Slightly Over Specifications and 1.3 wouldn't do it. I couldn't find a way to update it within the program, so I had to go looking for it on Intels website.īefore I updated it though, I did try to use 1.3 and it stinked. My Alienware Aurora had Intel XTU version 1.3 already installed on it.
